Trim Levels (Exterior)

The entry-level Equinox is the LS. It comes with 17-inch alloy wheels, LED headlights, and keyless entry. A quick bump up to the LT adds chrome and body-colored exterior trim elements and the option for the Confidence and Convenience Package with a power liftgate. The RS makes the power liftgate standard and adds black-painted 19-inch wheels and roof rails. The Premier is up next in the lineup and dresses up the Equinox with 18-inch wheels, chrome accents, and a hands-free liftgate.

Engine (Power)

Power for all Equinox trims comes from a 1.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine that puts out 170 horsepower. It works with Chevy's six-speed automatic transmission and comes with front-wheel drive. All-wheel drive is optional for any trim level.

Performance

The 2023 Equinox has a little more power than the previous model, and it comes with upgraded brakes that have an electronic booster. The ride in this SUV is smooth and comfortable, and it has a suspension tuned for everyday driving that does an excellent job of absorbing bumps in the road. The suspension works with a well-weighted steering system to give the driver plenty of confidence behind the wheel. When equipped with the available tow package, the Equinox can tow up to 3,500 pounds.

Interior

There's room for five in the Equinox, and all passengers have a comfortable spot. The entry-level LS has cloth upholstery and push-button ignition, with a power-adjustable driver's seat available with the LS Convenience Package. The LT makes the power-adjustable driver's seat standard and adds a leather-wrapped steering wheel and heated front seats. The RS has a sporty black interior with red stitching, and the high-end Premier has a heated steering wheel, driver's seat memory settings, and genuine leather upholstery. The tech features in the Equinox start with a 7-inch touch screen, a six-speaker stereo, and a wireless version of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. It also comes standard with a Wi-Fi hotspot. Bumping up to the Premier gets you an 8-inch touch screen, 120-volt outlet, and wireless charging. Add the Infotainment II Package to the Premiere, and you'll have a seven-speaker Bose stereo system and integrated navigation.

Safety Features

All the 2023 Equinox models come standard with advanced driver aids. These include a forward collision warning system with automatic braking, lane-keeping assist, and a rear-seat reminder that sounds an alarm if the driver walks away without checking the rear seat for children or pets. The Confidence & Convenience Package for the LT adds parking sensors and a blind-spot monitor with rear cross-traffic alert, and these come standard with the Premier. The Premier offers the Confidence and Convenience Package II with adaptive cruise control and a surround-view camera system.
