2023 Chevy Suburban
The Chevy Suburban is a full-size SUV with a body-on-frame construction that makes it extremely capable. With room for up to nine, a choice of engines, and a massive cargo area, this SUV can handle almost anything you throw at it. It carries over from 2022 to 2023 with just a few changes, one of which is the new option for Super Cruise hands-free driving technology for the top two trims.
Trim Levels (Exterior)
The entry-level Suburban LS has LED headlights and 18-inch wheels. Bumping up to the LT gets you a hands-free liftgate, while the RST adds 22-inch wheels and black exterior trim elements. The Z71 adds extra off-road capabilities with 20-inch wheels, all-terrain tires, a front skid plate, and tow hooks. If you choose the Premier, it comes with magnetically controlled shocks, and the High Country has a special grille with bronze accents. A panoramic sunroof is optional for most of the Suburban trim levels.
Engine (Power)
The Suburban's standard engine is a 5.3-liter V-8 that puts out 355 horsepower and works with a 10-speed automatic transmission. This engine comes standard with rear-wheel drive, but four-wheel drive is optional. A 6.2-liter V-8 is available for the RST, Z71, and the Premier and comes standard with the High Country. It puts out 420 horsepower and delivers 460 pound-feet of torque. You can also get a 3.0-liter turbo six-cylinder engine with 277 horsepower.
Performance
The ride in the Suburban is quiet and comfortable, with little outside noise in the cabin. The available adaptive suspension automatically raises or lowers the suspension as needed for the terrain, and the four-wheel drive gets you the extra traction you need. When equipped, the Suburban can tow up to 7,800 pounds.
Interior
There's room for up to nine in the Suburban, but most models have seating for seven or eight. The base trim has power-adjustable front seats, a leather-wrapped steering wheel, and tri-zone automatic climate control. The LT upgrades to leather upholstery for the first two rows, and it adds heated front seats and driver's seat memory settings. Additional upgrades, such as a power-folding third row and ventilated front seats, come in the top trims.
Technology features start with an 8-inch touch screen, wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, and a six-speaker stereo. Moving up to higher-end models adds more tech, including a nine-speaker Bose stereo, a larger 10.2-inch touch screen, and an upgraded driver information display. A rear entertainment system with dual screens is an available option for most models.
Safety Features
Every Suburban comes with advanced safety technology. The standard systems include a rearview camera, forward collision warning, automatic braking, lane-departure warning, front and rear parking sensors, and lane-keep assist. A blind-spot warning system with rear cross-traffic alert comes in the Premier, and the High Country adds a head-up display, a digital rearview camera, a 360-degree surround-view camera system, and rear pedestrian alert. Additional safety systems such as adaptive cruise control and GM's Super Cruise hands-free driving technology are optional for the Premier trim.
